Rubber Compound Purification

Before you discard the mixture, check its recovery potential.

Contaminants in a rubber mixture can prevent its further use. However, this does not always mean the entire batch needs to be disposed of.

By filtering, you can recover valuable material and reduce losses. The first step is to check whether the type of contaminants and the condition of your mixture allow for its purification.

Do you have a contaminated batch and don’t know what to do next?

Residues of metal, fabrics, or pre-vulcanized fragments can render a mixture unsuitable for its intended process. Before deciding its fate, it is worth assessing the possibility of removing these contaminants.

Provide information about the material and the problem that occurred in production. You will receive an assessment of the filtering possibilities and an indication of the appropriate processing method for your batch.

Your mixture requires an individual approach

The type of material, its hardness, rheological properties, and permissible processing temperature are important when choosing the process.

Therefore, the preparation and filtering method is tailored to the specific mixture. The material undergoes plasticization and homogenization, followed by filtration through appropriately selected sieves that retain contaminants. After purification, the mixture is cooled and prepared for further use.

You gain a process tailored to the material you want to recover.

Do you want to check if the purified material meets your needs?

The requirements of your production determine the further use of the mixture. Upon request, you can have the filtered material tested in the KABAT laboratory.

The results help verify its parameters and assess its suitability for the planned application. You gain an additional basis for deciding on the material’s return to production.

Subsequent stages can be commissioned in one place

Material assessment, preparation, homogenization, filtering, and cooling take place at the KABAT plant in Budzyń. Laboratory tests can also be commissioned at the same location.

You benefit from the facilities of a rubber product manufacturer and the experience of specialists who work with mixtures daily. The entire process is carried out in accordance with implemented production, quality, and environmental management systems.

Recovered material is an opportunity for lower costs

If the purified mixture can return to production, you retain part of the material’s value that was previously destined for disposal.

You can reduce:

  • loss of value of the contaminated batch,
  • waste disposal costs,
  • the purchase of replacement material.

Profitability depends on the value of the mixture, the amount of material recovered, and the cost of the process.

Check if your mixture can be recovered

To begin the assessment, prepare information about:

  • the type of mixture and the production stage at which the problem occurred,
  • the type of contaminants,
  • rheological properties,
  • the permissible processing temperature range,
  • the material’s packaging method.

Based on this, it will be possible to assess the scope of purification and select the technology. If you do not have all the data, start by describing the problem.
